Its stub length to diameter ratio of 2.0 provides excellent control and stability during finishing operations. The 40° helix angle combined with six polished flutes promotes efficient chip evacuation and minimizes material welding or smearing during slotting and pocketing. The bright coating and sharp geometry reduce chip adhesion, maintaining surface finish quality in gummy copper alloys and aluminum. The six-flute design balances chip clearance with finish quality, making it effective for full slotting and rough pocketing where chip space is critical. Without a corner radius, prevention of edge chipping relies on the combination of geometry and coating. For steel and stainless steel, a coated end mill is typically the better choice.
