Applications

Built for detailed finishing on non-ferrous materials, the YG1 86584 solid carbide end mill features a 3/8″ diameter and a 1″ length of cut. Its 5-flute design combined with a 45° helix angle and bright coating provides a smooth, low-friction cutting action that minimizes built-up edge and surface smearing. This tool is especially effective for clean wall and floor finishes in aluminum alloys such as 6061 and 6082. The geometry and coating also make it suitable for slotting and pocketing gummy copper alloys by preventing welding and adhesion in the flute valleys. The 1″ length of cut balances reach and stiffness, reducing deflection during fine finishing passes. For hard steels, a coated end mill is generally preferable. It is not intended for hard materials or cast iron, which require different coatings and tool geometries.
