Designed for applications that demand both rigidity and reach, the YG1 83908TN features a 3/4″ diameter and a 3″ length of cut, making it well-suited for precision finishing in non-ferrous materials such as 6061 and 6082 aluminum alloys. Its 50° helix angle, combined with a TiN coating and a 3-flute configuration, helps reduce built-up edge and enhances the quality of surface finishes. The geometry and coating of this solid carbide finishing end mill facilitate smooth chip evacuation while minimizing friction, a critical factor when working with soft metals. Equipped with a single end and center cutting ability, it allows for plunge cuts and versatile tool paths. With no corner radius, this tool excels at sharp edge finishes but requires careful use to avoid chipping during interrupted cuts. It is important to avoid utilizing this end mill on HRSA (ISO S) materials, as the TiN coating is not compatible and will degrade quickly. Although it can be used on steel and cast iron, its optimal performance is in non-ferrous machining where the coating and helix angle are most effective.
